Wing-shooting's New Frontier in Rocha, Uruguay |
Big brother to the dove and an equally challenging game bird, the wild pigeons of southern South America have quickly climbed the list of highly sought after species. The pigeon hunting in Argentina offers a new and exciting opportunity to shoot a species with great toughness in a unique decoying fashion.
Like the dove populations, the wild Pigeon species are most often found around agriculture based provinces. The north-central and northeastern provinces of Argentina and its neighboring western Uruguay are noted for their strong pigeon populations and high-volume decoy shooting. Although the species is found in Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay, the wild pigeons are widely dispersed throughout the continent and can be found as far north as Peru.
